Monel k400 vs Monel k500 Hex Bolts
Monel 500 is an age-hardened version of Monel 400, which means that Monel 500 is harder and more corrosion resistant than Monel 400. Monel 500 is ideal for marine applications, where the hex bolt will be integrated with salt water on a constant basis. Conversely, Monel 400 has high strength and toughness over a wide temperature range and is resistant to many corrosive environments but is not as corrosive resistant as Monel 500. However, Monel 400 is still ultra-strong and one of the best specialty nickel copper alloys in existence.
Monel UNS N05500 Hex Bolt Material Advantages
Monel nickel copper K500 has a chemical composition of roughly 65% nickel, 30% copper and 3% aluminum. Monel k500 hex bolts exhibit extremely good corrosion resistance with added high strength corrosion fatigue and erosion resistance. Some of the additional premium benefits that Monel K500 fasteners display, include:
- Cold worked strengthened
- Chloride ion stress corrosion cracking
- Excellent corrosion resistance
- Melting range between 2400-2460° F.
- 92,500 psi min. tensile strength
