Stainless Steel Duplex 2205 Hex Bolts

Stainless steel duplex SAF 2205 constructed hex bolts are used in machinery and construction and can be used with a nut, or in a tapped hole. Since they can be tightened with a wrench, fully threaded hex bolts are specifically designed to improve job efficiency. Additionally, 2205 hex bolts provide increased strength over standard stainless steel, which means that they can be used for jobs that require an advanced workload along with good corrosion resistance.

Duplex 2205 Hex Bolt Material Benefits

UNS S32205 hex bolts (also known as S31803) are manufactured from high-grade duplex 2205 stainless steel. Since this material is composed of at least 22% chromium, 6% nickel and 3% molybdenum it can withstand certain environmental rigors that other metals cannot such as corrosion, cracking, erosion, pitting and more. Stainless steel duplex 2205 hex bolts also provide twice the mechanical strength compared to standard stainless steel. Some of the additional characteristics of duplex 2205, include:

  • Useful up to 600°F
  • High resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • High strength
  • Good sulfide stress corrosion resistance
  • And more

In addition, Duplex 2205 is the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade on the market.  The Duplex 2205 alloy is a nitrogen-enhanced duplex stainless steel alloy. The nitrogen serves to significantly improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy; especially in the welded condition.

Stainless Steel Duplex 2205 Hex Bolt Applications

SAF 2205 hex bolts are often used for standard and advanced applications. The steel’s naturally strong characteristics make it the perfect choice for a wide range of industrial applications. Some of which, include:

  • Oil & gas exploration
  • Marine environments
  • Chemical processing
  • Bridges
  • Transport & Storage
  • Pulp & paper digesters
  • And more

Duplex SAF 2205 Hex Bolt Advantages

Hex head bolts are the ideal choice for numerous types of industrial fastener applications. The 2205 hex bolt’s six-sided design allows the bolt to be quickly and effectively fastened or loosened, which provides for increased overall job speed and quick turnarounds. Some of the additional benefits related to the use of UNS S32205 hex bolts (also known as S31803), include:

  • Extremely strong
  • Hot-forging manufactured
  • ASTM A449 and SAE J429 specified
  • Increased corrosion resistance
  • Easily tightened or loosened
  • And more
